Congratulations to our 2024 Scholarship Recipients!
Each year Epilepsy Reach awards students living with epilepsy an educational scholarship in an effort to offset costs associated with higher education. We would like to congratulate our 2024 scholarship recipients and wish them well in their future endeavors.
Sarah Potts
Auburn University
My name is Sarah Potts. I was diagnosed with epilepsy in middle school at the age of 10 after a grand mal seizure on the school playground. I have learned a lot about myself through my journey. Although it is a part of my story, epilepsy does not define me. I will be attending Auburn University studying Nutritional Sciences with a double minor in Public Health and International Human Sciences. My ultimate goal is to attend medical or pharmacy school to one day help others all over the world.
Payton Grant
University of Kentucky
My name is Payton Grant and I am so excited and honored to be one of this year’s recipients of the Epilepsy Reach Foundation Scholarship! I am beginning my freshman year at the University of Kentucky! I was diagnosed with epilepsy my junior year of high school and it has played a huge role in my life ever since then. I will be pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Thank you for your support of me and my hope is that people with epilepsy know that they are capable of anything!
Jshaun Walker
John Brown University
My name is Jshaun Walker, a Black graduate student from Sherwood, Arkansas. With a diverse background spanning choir, band, piano, competitive swimming, and more, I consider myself a versatile individual—a true “Jack of all Trades.” Though naturally reserved, I am outgoing when comfortable, known for my quick wit, and deeply attuned to the needs of those around me. I strive to offer support wherever possible. Thank you for this opportunity.
John McNiff
High Point University
My name is John August McNiff and I am honored to be a recipient of the 2024-2025 Epilepsy Reach Foundation scholarship. I have been persistent in believing in myself and determined with a humble confidence and a great deal of courage, which I have learned through many years of support from my family and a wonderful school environment. I have developed a love of travel, especially internationally and am fluent in French. I love to volunteer in my community and have found that helping those less fortunate makes my heart smile. I will be attending High Point University in the fall and a famous quote by Nido Qubein, the president of HPU, is “The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” This is my plan.
