On the last day of Epilepsy Awareness Month, we just wanted to drive home some important statistics about epilepsy. Epilepsy is a far-reaching disease that can affect anybody and that is just one of the many reasons we do what we do here at The Epilepsy Reach Foundation.
- According to the World Health Organization, about 50 million people across the world have epilepsy
- 1 in 26 people in the U.S. will have epilepsy in their lifetime according to the Epilepsy Foundation
- The WHO found that up to 75% of people with active epilepsy don’t receive treatment
- And the Epilepsy Foundation found that 56% of people with epilepsy experience seizures despite taking antiseizure medication
